R. Clinton Crews, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions at the Eastern Virginia Medical School where he serves as the Director of the Master in Surgical Assisting program. He has served in a variety of positions as a researcher to educator focused on educating individuals as well as organizations around the importance of advocating for vulnerable populations, mainly children and the elderly. During his 30-year tenure at Eastern Virginia Medical School, he has a long history in the area of program assessment and evaluation. One of his private consulting success stories is the Maryland Partnership for Prevention. A nearly defunct organization that implemented evaluation strategies based on his direction yielded the organization the receipt of the Hammer Award, the federal government’s recognition of efficient, one year later. Mr. Crews served as Chair of the SASA Committee of the ARC/STSA, a CAAHEP Commissioner, and numerous other committees/boards that support the advancement of the Surgical Assisting profession.
