Jessica Wilhelm, MSA, CSA, LSA, F-PRS, obtained her Bachelors in Biology at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Virginia.  She went on to achieve her Certificate in Surgical Assisting from Eastern Virginia Medical School then returned to earn her Masters in Surgical Assisting.  

 Wilhelm currently is the curriculum coordinator and multi-course director in the Master of Surgical Assisting program.  She teaches a variety of courses which include Principles of Surgical Assisting Lecture and Lab, Microbiology Lecture and Lab and Minimally Invasive Surgery Lecture and Lab.  She also continues to practice as a surgical assistant at Sentara Virginia Beach General for the past fifteen years. This allows her the unique opportunity to teach students both didactically and clinically. 

 Wilhelm is an active participant in the National Surgical Assistant Association and Virginia Association of Surgical Assistants.  She has chaired many workshops over the years for the national and state conferences.  She also serves as the current Chairman for the Advisory Board of Surgical Assisting Licensure in Virginia.
