Matthew LaPorta, DO, FACS
Dr. Matthew W. LaPorta, DO, FACS, is a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon based in Arlington, Virginia.
He has spent twenty years in healthcare as a student, trainee, clinician, and educator across various settings. He received his BS in Nursing (cum laude) with a minor in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. LaPorta then completed his General Surgery residency and a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Inova Health System, where he developed a passion for patient safety and quality improvement and presented his work at national meetings. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
His post-graduate work has led him to practice Trauma and Acute Care Surgery across the continuum from rural and suburban Level Two and Three Trauma Centers to mature Tertiary Level One Trauma Centers.
In his free time, in addition to feeding his News addiction and fascination with aviation and military history, He enjoys cheering on Philadelphia sports teams and spending time with his fiancée, Kendall, and dog, Maverick.
