Michael Morrison, MPH, CTP, CSFA, ACLS
Mr. Morrison is the founder and CEO of M2 Surgical Concepts, where he provides lecturing and consulting services to hospitals, schools, as well as, clinical expert for medico-legal cases.
He received his double bachelors at University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where he majored in Biology and Kinesiology. He received high honors for his graduating thesis on “Loculated Small Cell Carcinoma in Younger Populations.” Currently, he finished his Master’s in Public Health with a focus in Health Policy and also acquired an Epidemiology Certificate. He hopes to use this focus for Cardiovascular Disease research at the population level.
He is a board-certified Certified Surgical First Assistant at University Hospitals- Cleveland Medical Center, Division of Cardiac Surgery. In this role, he is skilled in routine and complex adult cardiac procedures and also serves in the capacity as a Board-Certified Transplant Preservationist for Cardiac and Thoracic Transplants. He has done over 200 thoracic transplants. Michael also sub-specializes in diseases of the Aorta including surgical and Percutaneous procedures (TAVR, SAVR, TEVAR). He is the only Surgical Assistant that sits on the board for the Aortic Dissection Center at his hospital.
Michael is very passionate about education. He is the sitting Treasurer for the Association of Surgical Assistants. Michael is a speaker for various medical/device companies, Ambassador for the American Heart Association, Advocate for Go Red For Women/Girls, and a Lecturer/workshop director for the ASA. He is a multi-published author in various medical journals, as well as, the primary author for the Cardiac Chapter in the Surgical Assistant Textbook and co-author of another textbook, “Cardiac Surgery for Advanced Practice Professionals”. He has 3 papers that will be finalized by the end of the year from his clinical research in Wound Healing and Valvular choices within Aortic Valve Replacements. He has also collaborated with vein harvesting companies to enhance the training of new harvesters and has been involved in numerous clinical trials relating to Cardiac Surgery.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, softball, golfing, and spending time with his NEW wife, Meredith and his dog Copper.
