Teresa Hess has been with Ivy Tech Community College for twenty-five years focusing on Apprenticeship initiatives. As the Assistant Vice President of Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning, she works to align academic programs, workforce, and economic development throughout the state. She has developed and has oversight of numerous training programs including traditional skilled trades and workforce apprenticeship programs. She provides leadership to the statewide system on the operation of the AAS Degree program in Apprenticeship Technology. With over 10,000 apprentices, the program is a model collaboration between the college and industry partners that combine the strengths of higher education and apprenticeship programs to provide an educational pathway of upward mobility.
In addition to managing a state appropriated apprenticeship grant, she is currently overseeing the leadership of a USDOL ABA-Apprenticeship Building America grant. She assists with outreach and recruitment of workforce partners to promote training and education connections between the college and various industry sectors. The primary focus is on creating employer partnerships to build talent pipelines and retention strategies through various apprenticeship initiatives.
Teresa is a founding member of USDOL-Registered Apprenticeship Community College Consortium Workgroup, USDOL Ambassador liaison, Executive Board member of the Indiana State Building Trades Directors Association, Hoosier State Apprenticeship Executive Committee and SMACNA Executive Board. She was appointed by Governor Holcomb to the Indiana Education Savings Authority Board of Directors.
